My story

Hi, I'm Tina, a Peruvian sustainable artist who creates with recycled materials, a

passionate dancer who believes in the power of art and movement to bring joy and healing and a mother of one beautiful child. Actually, I have been living in London for over 15 years.

Healing through art in lockdown

For many years, I was a full-time mom, dedicating myself 24/7 to my son. Then, on March 23rd, 2020, everything changed. London went into lockdown. My son was only 9 years old at the time, and suddenly his world became just phone calls with friends and online classes. I could see how stressed and sad children were everywhere—crying, restless, their behaviour changing. As a mother, it broke my heart, and I knew I had to do something.

Then I told myself, I must put into practice all the art studies I completed in my country, where I graduated with high honours. For so long, I had been afraid to show my skills because my English was not strong enough. But this time, I felt confident—and I could not stop thinking about the children who were struggling and needed something joyful to lift their spirits.

That is when an idea came to me: what if I started online art and crafts classes on Zoom?

And as many people lost their jobs, I decided to offer my art and crafts classes completely

free of charge, using recycled materials that families could easily find at home.

Day after day, children joined in, creating, painting, and building with their hands. Slowly, I saw their smiles come back.

These small classes helped improve their emotional well-being, brought them joy, and also offered parents a moment of relief. The children loved it so much that after six months, their parents encouraged me to continue and even offered to pay for the sessions

That was the beginning of my new journey—teaching art and crafts.

By then, my English had improved, and for the first time, I felt confident sharing my skills. I

was overjoyed to finally teach children what I love most: creativity through art, especially

using recycled materials like boxes and bottles. Creating beauty while taking care of the

planet became my passion, and I felt proud and happy to share it.

Finding joy again through Dance

But dance has always been another big part of my life. Back in Lima, Peru, I trained in ballet, modern dance, and folkloric dances. I even had the privilege of dancing with a famous Cumbia group, touring across the country, performing on television, and bringing music and rhythm to countless concerts.

Dancing was my world, my stage, and my voice. However, when I moved to London, the language barrier held me back. My English was not strong enough, and for years, I felt unable to show my skills or take dance as a profession

here. That silence was painful because dance had always been the way I expressed who I truly am.

Then, during a difficult family time when I fell into depression, dance became my medicine. I started moving every day again, and little by little, it healed me. It gave me energy, strength,

and joy.

That experience lit a new spark in me: I wanted to share with others that dance is not just movement—it is therapy for the soul. That’s when I began teaching, guiding both women

and men to discover how dance can transform emotional health and bring happiness back to life.

This is how my journey as an artist, teacher, and dancer began. I feel blessed to share my story with you, and I hope it brings you a smile, inspiration, and maybe the courage to dance,

create, and shine too.
